The MPO supports on-going bicycle and pedestrian planning by working with state and county agencies to implement multimodal urban/suburban mobility and pedestrian activities and facilities, to coordinate county, regional, and state pedestrian, bicycle, greenway and multipurpose pathway projects, raise awareness and safety of pedestrian and bicycling in Lee County and provide staff support to the Lee County MPO Bicycle Pedestrian Coordination Committee (BPCC).

The Project Manager for the Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan is Mr. Don Scott, Director of the Lee County MPO.

RWA, Inc. (website)
Over the past 13 years, RWA has become one of Southwest Florida’s leading multi-disciplinary consulting firms, offering civil engineering, urban and rural planning, surveying and mapping, and GIS solutions to public sector clients throughout the region. RWA, Inc. is leading the Consultant Team and is the Local Expert, responsible for managing the collective efforts of the team.


VHB/Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (website)
Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc.’s (VHB’s) experience with trails and greenways extends from Maine to Florida, with projects ranging from the Blackstone River Bikeway in Rhode Island to the Legacy Rail Trail in Sarasota County, Florida. VHB is serving the team as the Transportation, Mbility, and Community Design Experts.

Borrelli + Partners, Inc. (website)
B+P are accomplished design experts that have worked on trail projects throughout Florida. They will provide the team with imaginative, environmentally friendly and functional trail design. Established in 1968, B+P has earned an excellent reputation for performance and client satisfaction. Their role on the team will be as the Trail Landscaping and Graphic & Architectural Design Experts

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (website)
For 20 years, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) has established itself as the leader of the United States Trails and Greenways Movem¬ent. They are the nation’s largest trail organization. Founded in 1986 as a national nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, RTC has more than 100,000 members and supporters, a national office in Washington, D.C. and regional offices in Florida, California, Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Their role on the team will be to provide Implementation/Funding Solutions, serve as National Best Practice Experts, and Bike/Ped Advocates.

This team is a unified group of professionals (many of whom have worked together on numerous similar projects) that share a commitment to advancing bicycle and pedestrian modes of transportation and linking land use and transportation decisions to create better communities.
