FHWA Issues Record of Decision – February 2010

In February 2010, FHWA issued a Record of Decision for the Aroostook County Transportation Study (Adobe PDF fileTier 1 ROD) FEIS and the Route 1-161 Connector in Caribou (Adobe PDF fileTier 2 ROD) FEIS. The Tier 2 decision allows MaineDOT to move forward in developing the final design for the Route 1-161 Connector in Caribou. MaineDOT plans to advertise a portion of the Route 1-161 Connector in Caribou project for bid later this year, and anticipates construction beginning on that segment before the end of 2010. View the MaineDOT News Release on the ROD.

The Maine Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have released the Aroostook County Transportation Study Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). This FEIS addresses both the Tier 1 Aroostook County Transportation Study (ACTS) and one of the Tier 2 segments, Segment 4 the Route 1-161 Connector in Caribou.

A Tier 2 FEIS for the Presque Isle Bypass is expected to be released for public review in the Fall of 2010.
