Lake County Design Project
Project Purpose
The purpose of this project is to improve safety, not capacity, along the roadway by increasing the pavement width to accommodate wider travel lanes, shoulders, and a sidewalk. A wider travel lane will facilitate vehicular movement through the corridor. In addition to providing the wider travel lanes, the County is proposing constructing sidewalks along the south side of the road.

Anticipated Improvements
This project will focus on improving safety, upgrading the pavement surface, and improving pedestrian amenities. The following proposed improvements are anticipated:

  • Widen the existing roadway from 18 to 24 feet
  • Improve clear zone zones and sight distance
  • Improve drainage
  • Construct sidewalk on the south side of the roadway
  • Construct turn lanes at the CR 44 Intersection
  • New pavement marking and signs will be installed.
  • Public Meeting
The second public meeting for the project was held on June 19 at the Eustis Middle School from 6-8PM. At this meeting, the recommended improvements were presented to the public. A copy of the presentation material can be viewed in the Documents/Plans section of this website.

    Project Schedule
The project is currently at the 60% design stage. Identification of right-of-way acquisitions is almost complete. The consultant is proceeding to the 90% stage of plan development. It is anticipated that the 90% design will be completed by late October.
