Quechee Lakes Public Community Water Supply Source Development
Quechee, VT

VHB was contracted by the Quechee Lakes Development Company to develop a Public Community Water Supply source for a proposed 25-unit residential development. Challenges for this project included a difficult project site for obtaining adequate quantities of water due to a hilltop location in an area where drilled well yields are typically low; and a high level of public and regulatory scrutiny.

VHB was able to obtain sufficient potable water for the project with the installation of only one drilled bedrock well. Our scientists successfully identified a site that was approved by the State of Vermont for well drilling and that yielded adequate water for the project. VHB managed the drilling in order to protect site streams and wetlands from the discharge of rock drill cuttings and to comply with all regulatory requirements.

We also conducted source testing of the new well to analyze long-term safe yield, interference to private wells, water quality, and to delineate a recharge area and Source Protection Area.
