Rockingham Aquifer and Recharge Area Delineation and Mapping

VHB performed the first comprehensive Town-wide aquifer mapping project in Vermont, for the Town of Rockingham. The project involved using GIS software to analyze existing data on surficial and bedrock geology, soils, topography, public and private wells, and water resource studies. Additional on-the-ground data collection and testing was performed to fill gaps in the existing data.

VHB differentiated bedrock and surficial aquifers and prioritized the recharge areas for the respective aquifers. VHB prepared a final report that presented the data used in the mapping, the rationale for the mapping, and recommendations regarding zoning districts and land use policies based on the mapping results. The final report and mapping were presented by VHB at the Final Public Meeting.
