FAA’s Record of Decision
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released the Record of Decision (ROD) on the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the proposed T.F. Green Airport Improvement Program.
The ROD, which was prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, presents the FAA’s final determinations and environmental approvals for the federal actions necessary to implement the T.F. Green Airport Improvement Program. The FAA has selected Alternative B4 for implementation (the Project). The Project includes:
- Enhancing Runway 16-34 Runway Safety Areas
- Relocating Taxiway C
- Demolishing Hangar No. 1
- Extending Runway 5-23 to 8,700 feet
- Constructing a new ground support equipment facility
- Constructing new belly cargo and USPS facilities
- Constructing a new fuel farm
- Constructing a new integrated cargo facility
- Expanding automobile parking facilities
- Expanding the passenger terminal
- Reconfiguring terminal access roadways
Impacts associated with the Project and mitigation measures to address these impacts are described in the ROD. The issuance of the ROD does not imply these projects have obtained all necessary approvals. Local, state, and federal permits are still necessary. Public and private funding has not necessarily been secured.
Comments on the FEIS were considered in development of the ROD and responses to comments are appended to the ROD.

Final Environmental Impact Statement
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) distributed the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the proposed T.F. Green Airport Improvement Program to the public during the week of June 27, 2011. The Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register on July 8, 2011. The FEIS contains information on the purpose of and need for the proposed program; the range of reasonable alternatives considered; a description of the alternatives; and an evaluation of the environmental consequences of the alternatives. In addition to the No-Action Alternative, the FEIS evaluates two Build Alternatives that would enhance safety and efficiency at the Airport. The FEIS includes responses to all comments received on the DEIS in Appendix A (Volumes 3 and 4). The full FEIS is available to download as separate PDFs from the box on this webpage.
