About the Study

In an effort to create an integrated land use and transportation plan that meets the future mobility needs of the area, the Capital Region Transportation Planning Agency (CRTPA) is developing the Woodville Highway (SR363) Master Plan. One portion of the plan, The Southern Woodville Highway Corridor Study, begins just south of Capital Circle, S.E. and ends at the Coastal Highway (Highway 98), a distance of approximately 13 miles. The objective of the study is to create a vision of the corridor that has the support of the adjacent communities and other stakeholders and will provide a framework for both future land use and transportation development for the communities along the Woodville Highway corridor. A Corridor Master Plan will be developed through balancing transportation, land-use, environmental and neighborhood preservation measures to produce a positive image for the ultimate development within the corridor while providing for the safe and efficient use of existing transportation facilities and expansion of multimodal strategies.

The CRTPA’s project team will involve the community throughout the development of the Corridor Master Plan, so that citizens needs and concerns will be addressed and incorporated into the long term recommendations for the corridor’s future. The Corridor Master Plan will include both short-term (20 to 25-year) and long-term (40 to 50-year) multi-modal recommendations for improving transportation along the corridor, improving connectivity for the communities surrounding the corridor, and encouraging land use and development that is conducive with the future vision. The plan is anticipated to require approximately one-year to complete.
