Study Schedule
The Worcester Regional Mobility Study is organized into six tasks:

Task 1: Framework – Develop the framework for the study including: goals; objectives; study area; evaluation criteria; and the public outreach plan.

Task 2: Assess Existing & Future Conditions – Evaluate existing and anticipated future conditions for the study area, including traffic congestion, safety, environmental issues, community effects, economic development, land use, and transit.

Task 3: Major Infrastructure Project Identification – Identify potential major infrastructure projects through focused scenario planning workshops, consultation with stakeholders, and consensus-building.

Task 4: Major Infrastructure Project Evaluation – Evaluate potential major infrastructure projects and develop a Major Infrastructure Improvement Plan.

Task 5: Mobility Enhancement – Develop an operations/management plan including short-term/low-cost improvements, a phasing plan, and identify funding mechanisms for the highway alternatives (e.g. roadway and intersection enhancements) and non-highway options (e.g. transit, pedestrian, bicycle, and demand management). Develop quantifiable performance measures to measure progress in the future on an ongoing basis.

Task 6: Final Mobility Plan – Prepare a Final Mobility Plan for the study which will document the findings from Tasks 1 to 5.

The following schedule is anticipated for completion of Tasks 1 to 6:

Task 1: Framework July 2008 to September 2008
Task 2: Assess Existing & Future Conditions August 2008 to November 2008
Task 3: Major Infrastructure Project Identification November 2008 to February 2009
Task 4: Major Infrastructure Project Evaluation January 2009 to March 2009
Task 5: Mobility Enhancement February 2009 to May 2009
Task 6: Final Mobility Plan May 2009 to September 2009
