VHB, a multi-disciplined environmental and energy services leader throughout the East Coast, is acquiring Survey Engineering Resources, LLC (SER). SER is a 20-person surveying firm with an office in Westbrook, Maine. The merger of SER practice areas with VHB means a significant expansion of the company’s surveying capabilities throughout New England, and a more vigorous integration of innovation and technology.

The merging of SER and VHB allows for a stronger trajectory of growth for VHB’s survey practice. VHB’s current technical abilities in survey and data management, coupled with the greater technical capabilities of SER provides a pioneering approach to the survey services offered to clients. Additionally, the incorporation of top talent from SER enhances VHB’s market potential, while creating more opportunity within the energy sector.

With more than 30 offices across the East Coast, VHB’s in-house team of more than 85 surveyors and Professional Land Surveyors offers state-of-the-art and cost-effective solutions to public and private clients. VHB’s team of engineers, scientists, planners, and surveyors partner with clients to deliver complex projects across six markets—transportation, real estate, institution, energy, federal, and state and local government—and has been providing survey services throughout New England for decades.

SER has built a successful survey practice in Westbrook, Maine, with a strong focus on data and technology. Through an innovative GIS and data management platform, SER offers key clients in the energy, oil and gas, and public and private sectors a forward-thinking approach to how data is collected, processed, reported and published, giving the client more effectual field survey data.

SER’s President, Tim Patch, PLS will join VHB as Regional Service Leader for Survey, Eric Williams joins as the Director of Survey for Maine, and Gary Volta joins as a GIS Lead.

SER will join VHB’s Maine team, operating legally as Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. and known as VHB. The team will be located in the Westbrook, Maine, office of VHB and will service survey clients throughout the East Coast.
