Engineering News-Record (ENR) is an engineering and construction publication. Their Critical Path Podcast delivers insights from industry leaders and decision-makers about the latest construction industry innovations, issues, and developments. A recent episode features VHB’s Carol Lurie, who shares insights on the evolution of sustainable airports. Carol spoke with ENR Senior Transportation Editor Aileen Cho about sustainability efforts at airports both nationally and internationally, including net zero commitments, energy management, landside and airside sustainability initiatives, as well as the technology that is helping to track, measure, and analyze progress. Listen to the podcast.

I’m struck by how mainstream sustainability is in the aviation industry. Ten or fifteen years ago there was some skepticism, but now it’s front and center. Airports are making commitments to net zero greenhouse gas emissions, facilities are becoming more sustainable, everybody’s thinking about energy and zero waste.
