Avon Village Center

Avon, CT

Avon, Connecticut is a town of approximately 18,000 people located just 9 1/2 miles west of downtown Hartford, and is home to the Avon Village Center, a new mixed-use development. VHB is working with Carpionato Group to provide professional engineering services for the development, which in addition to retail, office, and residential space will include large and small public gathering places and serve as the gateway to the Farmington Valley.

Phase 1a of the project was recently completed, and includes six retail buildings anchored by a Whole Foods, as well as the relocation of Climax Road and Bickford Drive. VHB designed two temporary roads and prepared maintenance and protection of traffic plans to safely detour vehicles during the construction process. VHB continues to work with stakeholders involved in this project to create a vision that not only meets their objectives, but also presents a range of possibilities that will benefit the entire region.
