VHB provided comprehensive environmental services to address chlorinated-solvent contamination in groundwater and surface water. Our team performed an environmental investigation, followed by design, construction, and operation of a groundwater remedy. The remedy, a hydraulic capture and VOC removal system approved by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), includes a sealed sheet pile wall, three-acre low-permeability soil cap, and 20 gpm groundwater extraction and treatment system. The hydrogeologic conditions at this site are complex, and VHB’s groundwater modelling team used specialized software to help design and optimize the system, which has successfully achieved full capture.
