The Maryland Transportation Authority is advancing the replacement of the Francis Scott Key Bridge to restore access across the Patapsco River. Located along the I-695 corridor, the project will deliver a new 1.7-mile cable-stayed bridge that meets current industry standards and supports long-term mobility and economic activity at the Port of Baltimore.
VHB is supporting project partners Kiewit Engineering Group Inc. and the Maryland Transportation Authority, providing a wide range of transportation engineering design including Traffic Engineering, ITS and Highway Lighting Design.
With pre-construction activities underway, initial demolition has been completed. Once finished, the new bridge will reestablish a critical regional connection and be among the nation’s largest cable-stayed bridges.
