VHB Welcomes Christopher Fronheiser as Alternative Delivery Director

Enhancing alternative delivery for more efficient, innovative project outcomes.

As owners and clients continue to explore ways to accelerate project schedules, reduce costs, and increase collaboration, alternative delivery has become a preferred procurement option. Christopher Fronheiser, PE, joins VHB as Alternative Delivery Director to strengthen the company’s alternative delivery capabilities, streamline project delivery, and implement innovative solutions. In this new role, he will be responsible for partnering with VHB leadership to identify, win, and deliver key projects, as well as manage and nurture contractor relationships throughout VHB’s footprint.

Chris brings more than 30 years of experience from both design and construction firms, most recently as Deputy Director - Alternative Delivery Methods Group with an international consulting firm. His planning, design, construction, and project management work on large, multidisciplinary projects and pursuits includes the Penn Coach Yard Heavy Maintenance Facility, the Chester Bridge Replacement in Missouri, and the I-395 Express Lanes Northern Extension in Virginia.

“Chris’s alternative project delivery experience comprises design-build, progressive design-build, and design-build-finance-operate-maintain,” said Executive Markets Lead Steve McElligott. “His knowledge and insight across delivery methods with varying scale and complexity will lead VHB as we enhance innovative, technology-enabled solutions for our clients’ most complex projects.”

Chris received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Bucknell University. He is a member of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), where he has served on the Transportation & Aviation Committee; a member of American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) as past president of the Planning & Design Division; and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE).
