The Fall 2025 LEADS workshop, held November 7-8 at the Warren Conference Center & Inn in Ashland, Massachusetts, marked the 25th session of this impactful leadership development program. Twenty VHBers came together for the workshop, designed to enhance leadership skills, foster personal growth, and build meaningful connections among colleagues.
“The workshop gave me practical tools I could use right away. I’m already applying what I learned in my day-to-day work, and I can see how it’s making me more effective at what I do,” said Jeff Goldberg, Manager of Engineering-Energy.

Leadership Through Learning
The LEADS program is built on the belief that effective leadership starts with self-awareness and an understanding of how others perceive you. It connects VHB’s business priorities with individual leadership growth, while bringing together leaders from across the organization to build relationships and reinforce VHB’s status as an employer of choice.
“LEADS helped me grow as a leader by showing me I can lean on my peers for support. I left feeling ready to lead,” said Brendan Guess, Program Manager.
Over two days, participants examine their 360-degree feedback, work through coaching sessions, explore different communication styles, and connect directly with senior leaders across VHB.
Insights from VHB Leaders
During the workshop, participants heard from company leaders, including Chief Operations Officer and President-Elect Bill Ashworth, Chief People Officer Keri Kocur, and Executive Markets Lead Steve McElligott. They shared real examples of their own leadership journeys, including the challenges they’ve faced, how they’ve grown, and what they’ve learned along the way.
“LEADS provided me with practical tools, resources, processes, and a supportive network of new friends and peers. I highly recommend this program for anyone moving to the next level in leadership,” said Julie Whitmore, Structures Team Leader.
