Ken’s feature highlighted his growing national presence in low-carbon infrastructure and his commitment to advancing climate-focused design, specifically emphasizing his work within VHB to integrate embodied-carbon analysis into everyday practice. ENR also acknowledged Ken for advancing innovations in structural engineering that will push the industry forward, including his work on a self-propelled modular transport (SPMT) constructed bridge. Beyond his achievements at VHB, ENR spotlighted Ken’s broader industry involvement, including his national presentations and his leadership for the American Society of Civil Engineers Infrastructure 2050 and the Carbon Leadership Forum.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition from ENR,” said Ken. “It’s incredibly important that we in the AEC industry incorporate carbon management into our projects because the built environment accounts for more than 15 percent of global CO2 emissions just from the materials we use. By equipping engineers with the tools and training they need, we can integrate carbon reduction into project delivery to mitigate those impacts.”
