
VHB is pleased to announce the promotion of Nick Scenna, PE, to Managing Director of Highway and Structures for Massachusetts. In his new role, Nick will lead that group—comprising more than 100 structural engineers, highway engineers, and construction inspectors—while supporting VHB's efforts to enhance project delivery and foster strong relationships with transportation clients across New England.
Nick joined VHB in 2022 as Senior Manager of Major Projects, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record delivering complex transportation projects. His rapid progression to Director of Highway - MA showcased his leadership and technical prowess. Nick is licensed as an engineer in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, holds both FHWA-NBIS and OSHA-30 certifications, and holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University.
Prior to joining VHB, Nick built a distinguished 20-year career starting at The Engineering Company, Inc. (TEC), advancing through project management at SPS New England, Inc., and culminating as a Senior Associate at Stantec. His roles at Stantec included Highway Team Leader and Bridge Group Manager, where he was recognized for his contributions to the industry, including being named a 2019 Engineering News Record (ENR) Top Young Professional.

As part of this transition, Josh Cone-Roddy will step into Nick's previous role as Director of Highway – Watertown, leading a group of more than 35 engineers and designers. Josh has been a key player as a Project Manager and Team Leader within the Highway group, successfully leading complex multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, including prominent leadership roles on the MassDOT I-495/I-90 Interchange Design-Build.
