VHB has been selected to support subway station improvements tied to Resorts World New York City’s $5.5 billion expansion at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens. The project is part of a transformative investment that will elevate entertainment, hospitality, and public space offerings while strengthening transit connections for residents, workers, and visitors.
Building on VHB's role preparing the project’s comprehensive environmental impact statement under New York State and New York City environmental review processes, the team will help advance improvements to the adjacent Aqueduct Racetrack subway station. This continued partnership reflects VHB's deep familiarity with the project’s scale, its regulatory framework, and the priorities of the surrounding communities.
Today, the Aqueduct Racetrack station provides northbound service only, constraining transit access for casino patrons, employees, and nearby neighborhoods. The planned station enhancements will introduce full two-way service and ADA Accessibility upgrades to the existing facility, creating a more functional, accessible, and resilient transit gateway.
Improved subway access is a critical component of Resorts World New York City’s broader expansion, which will deliver new hospitality, entertainment, and open space amenities while strengthening transit-oriented development (TOD) in Southeast Queens. Station enhancements are expected to support increased ridership, reduce reliance on private vehicles, and improve the overall experience for casino patrons, employees, and neighborhood residents.
“Meaningful transit connectivity is essential to the long-term success of large-scale developments and the communities they serve,” said Stephane Lefebvre, Northeast Transportation Market Leader at VHB. “By enhancing access and the rider experience, we’re helping advance TOD principles that link entertainment, jobs, and open space to reliable transit, creating real benefits for Resorts World and the surrounding community.”
VHB’s continued role reflects an integrated approach to complex urban projects, combining environmental planning, transportation services, and close coordination with public agencies to help move major development from vision to implementation.
