With a presence of more than 10 years in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, McPherson Consulting brings a full suite of traffic engineering and transportation planning services—aligning with VHB’s commitment to strengthen service offerings to clients along the I-64 innovation corridor between Richmond and Virginia Beach.

Karen McPherson, PE, PTOE, President and Owner of McPherson Consulting, has more than 30 years of experience in Hampton Roads. She is skilled in traffic signal timing and operations analysis, working directly with every major city in the Hampton Roads region, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the Virginia Port Authority, private developers, and Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Mid-Atlantic (NAVFAC MIDLANT). Joining VHB alongside Karen are eight engineering professionals skilled in signal timing, signal design, traffic analysis, comprehensive signal system design, transportation planning studies, and interchange justification reports.

“I’ve known Karen McPherson and the team at McPherson Consulting for a long time,” said Kirsten Tynch, PE, PTOE, ENV SP, Transportation Market Lead in Virginia. “Their passion for transportation engineering will be a great fit for VHB. We share a dedication to shaping mobility right here in Hampton Roads, benefiting our families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues, and we’re looking forward to working together.”

McPherson Consulting will move to VHB’s Virginia Beach office location at Town Center, and will operate legally as Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc., and be known as VHB.
