VHB joined officials from the City of Raleigh, Wake County, and other project stakeholders to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Birch & Branch, a new affordable housing community designed to expand access to rental options in the fast‑growing Triangle Region.
VHB partnered closely with the City and the developer, Oppidan Investment Company, throughout planning and development. Our team provided schematic site planning, construction drawings, and addressed critical environmental and infrastructure challenges. VHB confirmed that the project met North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) requirements and aligned with the City’s long-term affordable housing goals.
“VHB is committed to addressing the affordable housing challenge through projects like Birch & Branch,” said Charlie Townsend, PE, Land Development Team Leader. “As a Raleigh resident, I’m personally invested in keeping the City accessible and within reach for residents across all income levels.”
Located near jobs, services, and everyday amenities, Birch & Branch delivers 180 affordable housing units for households earning between 30% and 70% of the area's median income. The development includes a mix of one‑, two‑, and three bedroom homes, and meets a wide range of housing needs while supporting affordability in the community.
