The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) has named Carolyn Groobey, VHB’s lead independent director, to its 2026 Directorship 100.

The annual recognition honors directors and governance leaders whose contributions have strengthened board oversight and advanced governance practices across organizations and industries. NACD will celebrate Carolyn and this year’s honorees at its awards gala in New York City on December 7.

Since joining VHB’s Board in 2019 and becoming lead independent director in 2022, Carolyn has helped strengthen the Board’s governance framework and effectiveness through several strategic improvements.

She led a review and revitalization of the Board’s committee charters, introduced annual Board and committee assessments that guided improvements across committees, and restructured meeting agendas to make room for forward-looking discussion, strategic planning, and Board education. She also led the formation of the Board’s Governance Committee, which she chairs.

As a member of VHB’s CEO Succession Committee, Carolyn helped guide the company’s CEO succession planning process and continues to support a successful leadership transition.

At VHB’s annual strategic foresight retreats, her insight has helped the Board and leadership team anticipate developments in data, artificial intelligence, and the clean energy transition, while examining the forces shaping our clients, communities, industry, and business and how VHB can help shape a preferred future.

Carolyn serves as chair and president of the NACD Florida Chapter and as a member of the NACD Private Company Steering Committee. She also serves on the boards of Everywhere Communications, New World Angels, iVisa (now HelloGov AI), and Harbor House.

Meet VHB’s leadership team.
