The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) has selected Jorge Luna, VHB Charlotte’s Director of Transit and Rail, for its Leadership APTA Class of 2026. This year-long professional development program brings together transit professionals from across the country to collaborate, broaden their skills, strengthen networks, and gain insight into diverse perspectives. Jorge will participate in workshops, mentorship sessions, and leadership development programs, culminating in a collaborative capstone project that addresses real-world challenges in public transportation.
Jorge has played a pivotal role at VHB, expanding our transit planning and operations analysis services and collaborating with clients such as the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). Based in Charlotte, he is helping strengthen VHB’s growing footprint across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
For Jorge, participation in the program represents both a personal and professional milestone.
“Being selected for Leadership APTA is an incredible opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the country, exchange ideas, and bring back knowledge that will directly benefit our clients and communities,” he said. “It’s also a chance to contribute my own experiences to the larger conversation about the future of transit.”
John Muth, VHB Charlotte’s Managing Director, emphasized the value of Jorge’s selection as a reflection of VHB’s commitment to its people.
“We believe in investing in our people and supporting their growth,” John said. “Jorge’s participation in Leadership APTA will strengthen his leadership skills and expand his impact on the communities we serve.”
