VHB has named Mario Toscano, PE, PTOE, National Director of Transportation Digital Infrastructure (TDI) to bring greater alignment between transportation engineering and digital technology, helping clients make informed infrastructure investments, address operational challenges, and adapt to evolving transportation needs.
In this firmwide role, Mario will lead VHB’s approach to TDI, connecting capabilities that span intelligent transportation systems, physical and digital infrastructure, connected systems, data exchange, digital platforms, and implementation advisory services. He will shape the firm’s strategic direction in this evolving field, identifying opportunities to strengthen existing capabilities, develop partnerships, and respond to emerging client needs.
As transportation systems become increasingly connected, clients must also navigate a changing landscape of technologies and considerations, from interoperability and cybersecurity to digital twins and artificial intelligence. Mario will help clients evaluate these developments and translate them into practical strategies aligned with their infrastructure and operational priorities.

Mario brings nearly 30 years of experience spanning transportation operations, systems engineering, and technology. His experience across the full lifecycle of complex transportation systems positions him to lead VHB’s TDI practice with a focus on helping clients make smarter technology investments that deliver lasting value.
