NewYork-Presbyterian recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate progress on The One, a new ambulatory care facility in White Plains, New York. This state-of-the-art, multi-specialty center is part of the health system’s ongoing commitment to expand outpatient services and provide a broad range of clinical offerings aimed at reducing barriers to care and improving health outcomes for communities across Westchester County.
As part of the project team, VHB provided civil engineering and land surveying services to optimize patient drop-offs, loading access, and general circulation around the site. These enhancements included an ambulatory surgery drop-off area, ambulette parking, valet parking, expanded ADA parking, an improved loading dock layout, and sidewalk improvements, along with a detailed stormwater management and drainage plan. During 18 months of construction on this state-of-the-art healthcare facility, VHB provided a stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) inspection as well.
To maintain community safety and efficient traffic flow, VHB also prepared a traffic impact study that evaluated potential impacts on the surrounding roadway network. The study informed site design strategies that integrate the new facility with the local transportation system while prioritizing accessibility for patients, staff, and visitors.
“Projects like this reflect the power of thoughtful engineering and team collaboration,” said Ray Gradwell, Director of Civil Engineering at VHB. “We’re proud to support NewYork-Presbyterian’s mission to deliver high-quality care closer to home and make meaningful infrastructure improvements that benefit the surrounding community.”
Through coordinated planning and technical design, VHB continues to partner with healthcare systems to create resilient, accessible, and community-focused facilities that address today’s healthcare challenges while supporting future needs.
