VHB has been selected to lead design of bridge improvements along Route 6 in Johnston, Rhode Island, continuing our work to enhance mobility, improve safety, and strengthen regional transportation networks.
The project includes the replacement of several aging structures along a critical corridor that serves local communities and commuters throughout the region. VHB is partnering with Aetna Bridge Company to deliver the effort using a design-build approach that emphasizes collaboration, efficiency, and streamlined delivery.
“Projects like this are an opportunity to make meaningful improvements to how people move through a corridor every day,” said Jeff Klein, Director of Transportation. “We’re proud to bring forward ideas that support enhancing infrastructure sufficiency, reduce disruption during construction, and deliver long-term value.”
VHB’s role includes advancing engineering solutions that simplify construction and minimize impacts to the traveling public. Our approach focuses on improving overall functionality of the corridor while maintaining access and supporting reliable travel during construction.
This work builds on our longstanding experience delivering complex transportation projects across New England. We have supported numerous complex bridge and highway improvements throughout the region and continue to partner with clients to modernize infrastructure.
As design progresses, the project will help strengthen connectivity along Route 6—renewing this key transportation corridor by delivering modern, resilient structures to the communities it serves.
