VHB is proud to announce that three of our transformative projects have been recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC-NY) at the 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards. These awards celebrate projects that exemplify innovation, ingenuity, and a positive impact on communities. This year, VHB received a Platinum Award for the Arverne East Nature Preserve, a Gold Award for the Shoregate Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), and a Silver Award for the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Stadium.

Restoring Ecology and Enhancing Flood Resilience at Arverne East Nature Preserve
The Arverne East Nature Preserve transformed 35 acres of flood-prone, underutilized land on the Rockaway Peninsula into a thriving coastal habitat. The project mitigates stormwater overflow and enhances community access to green space. This forward-thinking initiative demonstrates the power of nature-based solutions in strengthening climate resilience.

Revitalizing Bay Shore with Transit-Oriented Living at Shoregate
The Shoregate Transit-Oriented Development revitalized a long-neglected 10-acre site in downtown Bay Shore. It created 418 apartments, including 84 affordable units, within walking distance of the Bay Shore LIRR station. Shoregate has reenergized the local economy, boosted housing availability, and fostered a more connected, walkable community.

Pioneering Modular Design at the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Stadium
The ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Stadium at Eisenhower Park marked a milestone in temporary sports venue design. Designed, built, and demolished in less than a year, the 34,000-seat modular stadium minimized environmental impact while creating an unforgettable experience for fans. This groundbreaking project demonstrated how innovative engineering can transform non-traditional sites into world-class temporary event spaces.
These recognitions reflect VHB’s commitment to developing forward-thinking solutions that meet our clients’ unique needs and uplift and enhance local communities.
Congratulations to all winners!
