The Newbury at Brookline

The former 10-acre Newbury College campus on Fisher Hill was repositioned as The Newberry at Brookline, an award-winning senior living community which offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing apartment homes. VHB provided transportation planning and engineering services to help the development team, Town of Brookline, and neighbors understand and manage transportation impacts stemming from redevelopment. Our team prepared a comprehensive Transportation Impact Assessment; identified context-sensitive multimodal improvements, access management strategies, and parking refinements to address neighborhood concerns; and developed a robust Transportation Demand Management plan and post-construction traffic monitoring program as required by the town for large development projects. Drawing on long-standing relationships in Brookline and experience with both public and private sector projects, VHB helped advance a project that supports senior housing needs, promotes safer and more sustainable transportation choices, and aligns with the Town’s goals.
