As generative artificial intelligence (AI) became a widely recognized technology in 2023, exemplified by ChatGPT, VHB developed and implemented an AI Responsible Use Policy. This policy has been clearly communicated to all employees and remains a core focus of our ongoing training and education.
We recognize our clients have diverse perspectives and requirements regarding AI, and we are committed to making certain our practices are aligned with their expectations. Consistent with our commitment to transparency and quality, detailed below is VHB’s approach to AI tools.
What VHB Permits
- Use of VHB's secure, internal AI platform, ChatVHB, for approved applications and use cases. This platform uses enterprise versions of leading AI models within our private Microsoft environment to confirm all data and prompts remain private to VHB and are never used to train public models.
- AI-assisted features in industry-standard professional software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, and analysis tools, when they enhance accuracy, efficiency, or capabilities.
- Use of approved AI tools for internal project coordination and administrative tasks that do not directly produce client deliverables.
What VHB Does Not Permit
- Submitting client confidential or non-public information to any unapproved or non-secured AI platform.
- Using AI-generated content in deliverables without thorough review and validation by qualified subject matter experts.
- Relying on AI for professional judgment, calculations, or analyses without independent verification.
VHB AI Quality Controls
- All deliverables, including AI-assisted content, undergo review by qualified subject matter experts.
- We maintain rigorous oversight to identify and correct potential AI bias and inaccuracies.
- Licensed professionals and qualified personnel remain accountable for work products and deliverables.
- We document our methodologies and decision-making process.
