VHB completed a condition hydrographic survey of the berth for the USS Wisconsin, a retired battleship docked in Norfolk Harbor that now serves as a museum. Using advanced multibeam technology, VHB collected detailed soundings beneath and around the 887-foot vessel and the adjacent federal channel. The survey provided a precise view of underwater conditions supporting the ship, offering critical data to guide maintenance, preservation, and long-term stewardship.
Hydrographic surveys like this measure and map underwater topography, revealing conditions not visible from the surface and supporting the management of marine infrastructure. For the USS Wisconsin, VHB’s survey is an important step in preserving a national landmark that honors naval history and continues to inspire visitors.
