Wayne County partnered with VHB to modernize its tax mapping system, replacing outdated CAD-based maps with a GIS-driven platform that supports daily tax administration and long-term data management. Prior to the conversion, parcel information was fragmented across multiple files, with inconsistencies between municipalities that created gaps and redundancies in the County’s mapping records.
VHB consolidated parcel data into a centralized countywide system, creating a single source of information that supports mapping updates, maintenance, and integration across departments. The project also included standardized tax map production tools and the creation of a web-based parcel viewer that provides access to property boundaries, land use, zoning, and other key geographic data.
The modernized system improves accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency while giving Wayne County a flexible platform that can support future geospatial initiatives and evolving operational needs.
