Niki Hastings, PE
Niki has been appointed as the Managing Director of the MA-TPO/TS/TTG group in Massachusetts. With over 20 years of experience as a transportation engineer at VHB, Niki has been instrumental in expanding the company's influence across the region. She has spearheaded numerous high-profile projects, including the Route 128/I-95 Land Use and Transportation Study and the Metro Boston Travel Demand Model. Recently, Niki joined Harvard and other regional leaders for a panel discussion on Designing Mobility Equity, sharing valuable insights on integrating equity into mobility and urban design processes. Her strategic vision, technical knowledge, and industry leadership position her well to guide the MA-TPO/TS group into the future.
Peter Smiar, PE
Peter has been named the new Managing Director of VHB's Vermont operation. With nearly a decade at VHB, Peter has established a reputation for technical excellence and collaborative leadership. As the head of Vermont’s land development team, he has broadened the firm's real estate market presence and fostered a high-performance team culture, including expanding our portfolio of mountain resort and ski area clients. Under his leadership, VHB's Vermont team will continue to deliver innovative planning, engineering, and environmental services that enhance communities and drive economic opportunity in the state and beyond. Peter succeeds David Saladino, PE, who has fully transitioned to the role of Regional Operations Manager for Northern New England.
