VHB welcomes back Tyler Johnson, AICP, in a new role as Southeast Institutions Market Leader based in Orlando, Florida. With extensive experience in planning, real estate development, and healthy community design, Tyler will enhance VHB's services to institutional clients across Florida and Georgia.
In his leadership role, Tyler will focus on integrating comprehensive planning with market analysis and development strategies tailored to VHB’s Institutional clients while mentoring emerging professionals as we grow. His public outreach and policy development experience will help VHB deliver sustainable and impactful projects that benefit campuses and communities across the Southeast.
“I’m thrilled to return to VHB in a role that builds on the positive impacts we’ve made elevating communities,” said Tyler. “Healthcare and higher education clients in the southeast are growing and navigating complex market dynamics. With our integrated, technology-enabled approach we are well-positioned to help them solve today’s challenges.”
Tyler brings more than a decade of experience in community planning, working with some of Florida's largest healthcare providers and educational institutions. Prior to VHB, he served on the Asset Strategy team at Orlando Health, where he was responsible for managing an inter-disciplinary team of consultants and designers on healthcare projects throughout the state. His prior roles and experience will help elevate VHB service to institutional clients including free-standing emergency departments, medical office buildings, educational facilities, and hospitals.
At VHB from 2014-2021, Tyler’s contributions as a Planner included master planning, permitting, urban design and policy, mobility and sustainability planning that have uplifted clients and major projects such as the City of Orlando Future-Ready Master Plan and Vision Zero Action Plan, City of Altamonte Springs Land Development Code, and Parramore Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan.
“Tyler’s deep understanding of institutional needs, combined with his strategic vision, will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our integrated services approach to healthcare, education, and cultural clients,” said Matt Lamb, Southeast Regional Manager.
Tyler holds a master’s degrees in community planning and development from the University of Southern Maine, and a bachelor's degree in architectural studies and Classics from Tufts University.
