Time and Temperature Building Revitalization

Portland, ME

The iconic Time and Temperature building in Portland, Maine, as well as adjacent buildings, will be redeveloped into an 86-bed luxury hotel with a rooftop bar, meeting rooms, banquet hall, a restaurant, and retail stores within the 14-story office tower. This previously underutilized site is located blocks from City Hall and other key Portland destinations and traffic operations are a critical piece of the project, as potential zoning issues may need to be addressed. VHB is conducting transportation permitting for the neighborhood surrounding the Time and Temperature building revitalization.

Since only one nearby intersection had been counted in recent years, VHB used Intersect methodology to translate INRIX data into 2019 turning movement counts, which confirmed efficient operation at nearby traffic signals as if the project was in place. With Intersect, VHB developed dependable traffic counts that will help advance the project during its public review process and create a new destination within downtown Portland.
