Capital One West Creek Campus

Goochland County, VA

Finding a site to house 8,000 executive employees is no small undertaking, but VHB was up to the challenge. Our team helped Capital One find a suitable location for their new campus, enabling them to consolidate 20 separate facilities in the Richmond area. We then built out the new campus on a 300-acre wooded site, designing the infrastructure to support the company’s evolution over time. VHB’s collaborative approach to the project was instrumental in the successful delivery of the site development package. Several low impact design techniques were integrated into the site; one innovative stormwater management technique used timber from the site to construct “weir walls” in the woods which minimized disturbances to the woodlands. The West Creek campus build out includes eight 160,000 sf buildings, three miles of roads, a ramp connection to a new interchange, three traffic roundabouts, parking garages, and outdoor recreation areas. During Phase II of the master development plan, VHB led the evaluation of existing traffic patterns to develop circulation improvements in and around the campus.
