Rutgers University Multimodal Planning

City of New Brunswick

Douglass Discovery Village is a new campus hub at Rutgers University designed to enhance connectivity, accessibility, and activity at key campus areas. The project aligns with the University’s master plan to create vibrant, sustainable spaces that serve students, staff, and the surrounding community while supporting long-term campus growth.

VHB provided planning services to evaluate campus circulation, transit access, and multimodal connectivity. The team assessed vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle networks, identified opportunities to strengthen infrastructure, and analyzed transit operations and parking demand to improve efficiency and accessibility.

By integrating mobility, safety, and sustainability considerations, VHB’s work helps shape a campus environment that is cohesive, resilient, and adaptable to future needs.
