Sunrise Senior Living is an assisted living and memory care community serving more than 100 residents in a vibrant neighborhood setting. The community has accessible suites, shared amenities, thoughtfully designed common areas, and outdoor spaces that promote safety, comfort, and care for seniors. Redevelopment of the site, which historically operated as a gasoline filling and automotive service station dating back to 1926, required thoughtful planning, remediation, and collaboration among the project team, regulators, and financial partners.
VHB’s integrated services team supported Sunrise with the repositioning of this site. We led Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, coordinated hazardous building materials assessments, and developed supplemental documentation to address the client’s financial requirements. Following abatement, 24,000 tons of soil were exported off-site to support construction of the new building with subgrade parking. VHB also prepared Massachusetts Contingency Plan submittals, including a Release Abatement Measure Plan, facilitating regulatory closure. By streamlining complex environmental requirements and supporting compliance, VHB helped deliver a safe, high-quality senior living community to serve local residents.
