NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Bethpage

A former office building was repositioned into a state-of-the-art outpatient center for NYU Langone Health (NYU). The newly designed facility offers primary and specialty care to the community and will allow physicians to provide world-class treatment using the latest technology for a wide range of conditions. The 54,000-square-foot multispecialty center is the largest ambulatory care practice on Long Island and will accommodate up to 500 people a day. VHB’s integrated services team worked closely with Seavest Health Care to deliver this facility under a tight timeline. The team’s local knowledge and experience was critical in navigating the complex entitlements path towards site plan approval with the Town. VHB focused on enhancing parking, drainage systems, lighting, and the landscape. The parking field was redesigned with islands, which decreased impervious ground coverage and helped reestablish a more natural groundwater balance through the reduction in stormwater runoff and increased infiltration. The setting was further enhanced with greenery, circulation paths, and signage for safer pedestrian crossing. VHB also designed a drop-off with a more accessible entry to the back of the building, which met compliance with the new American Disabilities Act. LED site lighting was also incorporated to enhance energy efficiency.
