VHB, in collaboration with EBI Consulting, transformed a former Rite Aid pharmacy into a new 7-Eleven and Raise the Roost Chicken and Biscuits convenience store with gasoline sales in Southington, Connecticut. Our team retrofitted a site originally configured for pharmacy drive-through operations to accommodate higher-turnover convenience retail use, integrated fueling infrastructure including new underground fuel storage tanks, and preserved operations for an existing cell tower at the rear of the property.
VHB delivered comprehensive site design and permitting support, producing detailed site plans that met municipal requirements and Connecticut Department of Transportation standards. We evaluated and enhanced existing stormwater infrastructure, developing a management approach that aligns with local requirements and Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection regulations. VHB maintained multiple existing curb cuts, including a signalized primary access point, while implementing targeted upgrades that improve safety and functionality. By guiding the project efficiently through state and local permitting, we kept the schedule on track to meet critical construction timelines.
Strategically located near Interstate 84, the revitalized site now serves residents, commuters, and travelers, strengthens a key commercial corridor, and delivers enhanced community access to retail and fuel services.
