300 Binney Street was developed to support Biogen’s growth in Kendall Square. This new 188,000‑square‑foot office building is designed to accommodate future research lab use; it contains offices, a health club, and a daycare center on the ground floor. Boston Properties trusted VHB to lead the local technical permitting, survey, and site/civil engineering for this fast-paced project. Technical innovations included on-site stormwater management and wastewater storage to address limited municipal system capacity, and a parking analysis and construction photo simulation that streamlined the local approval process. Within six months, 300 Binney Street was fully permitted and designed, and the project headed into construction without delay.
