Springfield Crossing

Springfield, MA

An estimated $80 million private investment has transformed the former Eastfield Mall into Springfield Crossing, a vibrant open-air shopping destination serving western Massachusetts. The repositioned 360,000-square-foot retail center is home to national retailers, restaurants, service providers, and local businesses, and represents one of the region's most significant commercial revitalization efforts in recent years.

Throughout planning, VHB collaborated with the City of Springfield, neighborhood representatives, economic development officials, and existing tenants to support the transition and align the project with the community's long-term economic goals. Working alongside Onyx Partners as prime site design consultant, our team provided survey, site/civil engineering, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, permitting support, and construction services throughout the project.

By creating a modern, open-air shopping environment, VHB's work helped enable job creation, attract new businesses and revenue, expand shopping choices, and reinforce Boston Road as one of western Massachusetts' premier commercial corridors.
