Building Assessment & Waste Characterization
Waste streams are identified utilizing an integrated approach, conducting pre-demolition building assessments, sampling for asbestos, lead, PCBs, and universal waste. Masonry materials are also sampled and characterized for recycling or disposal. Regulatory requirements are evaluated, and project schedules are considered in developing the most cost-effective approach for waste characterization.

Remediation Design & Implementation
VHB’s experience includes development of technical specifications for pre-demolition abatement; preparation of Demolition Waste Management Plans to evaluate recycling and/or reuse options; and classification of hazardous wastes to facilitate off-site disposal. We specialize in coordination with local, state, and federal agencies to comply with applicable regulations and attain required approvals.

On-Site Remediation Oversight & Closeout
During demolition, VHB maintains communications with clients, contractors, and regulators, and provides oversight of demolition and waste segregation activities, conducting dust monitoring, if required. Upon completion of demolition activities, VHB prepares abatement/remedial action reports to document that proper removal, handling, transportation, and disposal or recycling/reuse procedures are employed.
