The Home Depot Operations Facility

Tewksbury, MA

One of America’s largest retailers, The Home Depot opened a new multi-million-dollar Operations Facility that will provide fast bulk delivery to construction job sites, thus alleviating pressure from local stores and improving the overall customer experience. The 775,000-square-foot center was completed by privately owned, nationally recognized leader in industrial real estate, Seefried Industrial Properties. The state-of-the-art facility was constructed on a 120-acre parcel spanning three Massachusetts municipalities: Billerica, Tewksbury, and Lowell. In hopes of aligning with their worldwide known slogan, “How Doers Get More Done”, the new center will allow The Home Depot to focus on their supply chain, emphasizing same-day and next-day delivery to construction sites.

VHB led civil engineering and permitting efforts for this large-scale development, providing guidance in the permitting phase and into construction. VHB assessed bylaw and ordinance requirements of the three Massachusetts municipalities as well as the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) and state agency review, keeping in mind the adjacent protected Concord Riverfront and surrounding wetlands. The VHB team supported the project’s general contractor, Integrated Builders, throughout the duration of the project, providing a smooth and successful development process for both the client and tenant.
