East Hartford Logistics & Technology Park at Rentschler Field

East Hartford, CT

National Development, one of the largest real estate development and investment firms in New England, has partnered with VHB on residential, mixed-use, and industrial developments for more than 20 years. When the company considered purchasing 300 acres at the former Rentschler Field airport site in East Hartford, Connecticut, with plans to redevelop the area into a logistics and technology park, VHB was engaged for a feasibility assessment, conceptual site planning, site/civil, permitting, traffic, wetland, and other services to expedite the securing of local, state and federal approvals.

Located midway between New York City and Boston, the East Hartford site offers convenient access to both Interstates 84 and 91. The initial phase of the project will include 2.5 million square feet of space, with e-commerce company Wayfair and home improvement retailer Lowe’s occupying two new mega-warehouses to be completed by mid-2024. A future phase has plans for an additional 200,000 square feet of high-tech and/or manufacturing space.
